Preparation for First Reconciliation & First Eucharist

Children who have reached the second grade, have successfully completed first grade classes, and who are baptized may enroll in classes to prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Older children who have completed a full year of Faith Formation classes may also enroll for sacramental preparation.

Regular attendance in the student’s program of enrollment, attendance at the parent/child meetings and retreat, and completion of the special eight chapter student text for each sacrament is expected. Regular Mass attendance and participation is an important part of their preparation. A copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate must be presented to the Faith Formation office.

Children prepare for both Sacraments concurrently .  Preparation begins in early Fall with an introductory Parent Meeting where materials are provided. Preparation continues with parent and child prayer services, liturgy and Sacramental Retreat.  The Sacrament of Reconciliation is completed approximately one month prior to First Eucharist. The Sacrament of First Eucharist is celebrated during the Easter season.

To enroll for sacramental preparation or for more information, please contact the Faith Formation Office at 248-625-1750 or download the registration form below.  Be sure to check the appropriate area under “Sacramental Preparation” in addition to enrolling for a regular Faith Formation class.
