Preparation for First Reconciliation & First Eucharist

All second graders are expected to enroll in classes to prepare for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist. A copy of the child’s Baptismal certificate must be presented to the Faith Formation office.

Older children who have completed a full year of Faith Formation classes may also enroll in sacramental preparation.

Regular Mass attendance and participation is an important part of their preparation.

Children prepare for both Sacraments concurrently.  Preparation begins in early fall in Faith Formation class.

All families with a student preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist will come to an introductory Parent Meeting in January. Preparation continues with parent and child prayer services, liturgy and a Sacramental Retreat.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is completed prior to First Eucharist. The Sacrament of First Eucharist is celebrated during the Easter season.

To enroll in sacramental preparation or for complete details, please download the registration form under Links and see page 3. In addition to enrolling in a regular Faith Formation class be sure to check the appropriate area under “Sacramental Preparation” as well.
