Formerly known as Christian Service, this department gives witness to the Gospel through Christian Service to its members and outreach to the community.
The ministry, based on Catholic Social Teaching, involves direct services in or of human need, both in the parish and beyond, and the promotion and coordination of action to eliminate the cause of human need in our society.
We are the hands and feet of Christ.
Please read more about the ministry opportunities below. If interested, fill out the online form below or contact the Christian Service Office.
Eucharistic Ministers are God’s Ministers to the homebound by participating in the ministry of Jesus Christ. They offer guidance and cheerful encouragement. The Eucharist is taken to the homebound -- either within a facility or at a home within parish boundaries -- on a regular basis.
Must be a trained and commissioned Eucharistic Minister. A background check and completion of Protecting God's Children are required.
From September through May, we offer Social (Coffee and Donuts) after Sunday Masses twice a month.
The Social ministry offers a special hospitality that affords parishioners the opportunity to share time together, to connect, and to build community. This ministry is made possible by the dedicated volunteers who host Social, and we are looking for more hands to help.
Volunteers serve one Sunday a month, and help set up donuts/bagels, coffee, and juice, oversee the serving line, and then clean up afterwards.
Do you have a ready smile and a serving nature? Do you love to meet new people? Do you have a couple of free hours on a Sunday once a month? Then the Social ministry could be for you!!!
We’re always open to new faces, and the ministry requires only a little training. Eligible for youth service hours as well!
Greeting cards are sent to the homebound, the ill, active military personnel, and those who need special thoughts.
We are looking to expand this ministry to possibly include home visits to help raise the spirits and let others know that their parish family is thinking of and praying for them.
We are Catholic men building a bridge back to faith. There is much work to be done in this world. Good work. Necessary work. And that’s what the Knights do. Every day.
Assisting the sick and disabled. Protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Whether they are next door or halfway around the world. This is the journey we are on. Our path.
We do it to be better husbands, fathers, sons, neighbors and Catholics. We invest our time, our effort, and our resources into our values: Charity. Unity. Fraternity. Patriotism.
We come from many different places. And backgrounds. And stages in our lives. But we are all of one faith. A fraternity of men striving to better ourselves and our world.
It’s one thing to say who you are. It’s another to live it. To put your values into action. That’s what we do at the Knights of Columbus.
That’s who we are. [KofC.org/joinus]

It was on January 22, 1973 when the Supreme Court ruled that the constitution of the United States protects a pregnant woman’s liberty to choose to have an abortion. Since then, countless lives have been lost and ruined. As followers of Christ we can be a place of refuge through our words, the care we provide and by sharing the gospel that brings life.
The Detroit Walking with Moms in Need (WWMIN)
This initiative seeks to make each parish in the Archdiocese a place where moms and their babies are welcomed and supported and where the dignity of every human life is upheld and valued. You can check it out at https://ccsem.org/walking-with-moms-in-need/. And stay tuned for news of a local WWMIN group starting!
Support Pregnancy Help Centers.
Two local help centers are Crossroads Care Center in Auburn Hills (https://www.crossroadscarecenter.org/) and Oxford Pregnancy Center (https://oxfordpregnancycenter.org/).
Support Housing/Residential Programs for expectant moms.
While there is a complete list on the WWMIN website above, there is an URGENT NEED at Gianna House in Eastpointe. December 26, they experienced a “winter emergency.” Due to the extreme cold, pipes in their fire suppression system froze and burst, flooding all four floors of their structure. While the loss is great, the moms and babies are all fine and Gianna House will rebuild. But they need our support. Visit https://giannahouse.org/ for the complete story and how you can donate.
Support Initiatives Through the Parish or Our Family of Parishes
Initiatives such as the Knights of Columbus Baby Bottle Drive and our Stitching for Babies ministry group. Stitching for Babies can use the following NEW baby items to supplement their hand-crafted items: Small packages of diapers (size 1, 8-14 pounds, packs of 50 or less); wipes; Onesies (to fit 3 months, 9-12 pounds); baby socks and bibs. You may leave your donations in the food bins near the church entrance or drop them off at the Parish Office. Thank you!
